Request Category: Private Individuals

Question Number 1:
What the staff are trained to do in regards to equality rights, people with disabilities and carers.this was specific to early 2022 if there is a training manual/ protocol i would like to receive a copy please

Answer To Question 1:

Q1 All staff have to complete mandatory online training on Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) (refreshed every 3 years). In addition all staff can attend additional EDI workshops which includes how to support disabled staff with reasonable adjustments. All staff have access to a very active Staff Carer’s network that provide information on the support that is available to staff carers.

Question Number 2:
This includes the protocol/ training manual for staff to report situations, between patients and visitors. ie if there a situation that happens . are the staff required to report it and if so please provide me with a copy

Answer To Question 2:
The Trust have 2 main protocols for reporting incidents –

1. Where incidents relate to patient safety there is the PSIRF protocol: http://intranet/quality/patient-safety-incident-response-framework-psirf/
2. And for all incidents, including regarding equality rights, disabilities and carers, we have our standard DATIX system: http://intranet/media/3orjqvtu/datix_how-to-report-an-incident_lfpsev2.pdf

The Trust also have our patient experience team to take complaints (sft.pals@nhs.net) and staff can raise their issues with the Freedom to Speak Up Guardian if they feel their issues are not handled well.
